Many gardeners use companion gardening, interplanting to improve their gardens health and get rid of garden pests and insects naturally without insecticides or chemicals.  Gardeners plant plants together that enhance each other, usually by repelling harmful insects or attracting beneficial ones.  The Native Americans used a form of this that they called Three Sisters they would plant corn together with beans and squash.

If you are plagued with poor soil, whatever the reason, too sandy, too much clay, too rocky etc.  do not despair.  You could either till in organic material such as compost and peat to get your soil up to speed,  or you could build a raised bed garden A raised bed garden is a frame, open on top and bottom that sits on top of your poor  soil and you fill it with nutrient rich potting soil that you either purchase outright or mix up yourself.
